Fred was a good man, and we shared many fun adventures together. His legacy is the best one can leave: his loving character and values.

Fred and I were friends about fifty five years ago, a friendship which lasted about five years, when our paths in life diverged. We met as vendors together for the White Sox, Cubs, and Blackhawks back in 1961, which is how we met. We spent our summers together, visiting Arlington Park, local bars, batting cages, and just hanging out. Fred was always a warm, smart, compassionate, funny, and generous man. I explained to my wife today how I learned to handicap racehorses, and Fred was the one to teach me how to use the Racing Form and how to avoid getting a speeding ticket. We had uncounted summer days and nights together, and I have warm memories of my old friend. I am sorry for your loss in 2017. Fred was a good man, who lives on in all of our memories.
