Fred Adler Obituary

Dr. Adler saved my life. I had a severe attack during Christmas of 1969 and had a cardiac arrest. I was a student at IU Bloomington at the time, but made it to St. Catherine´s Hospital. He was called to help me, as my doctor was on vacation. I always think about him. Dennis L. Dell, Ph.D.

He was a stellar Physician who l worked with at Community whenever he was called to Post Partum to remedy a problem with a high risk OB patient. I will always remember the day he came in with his 2 little kids that we entertained while he did his work.

It's difficult to say goodbye to someone who was respected, trusted, and admired for so many years. We miss you Dr. Adler, and will be forever grateful for having known you.

September 14, 2016. I am sitting in my office at Community Hospital where Dr. Adler spoke almost daily regarding his role as Utilization Management Chairperson. We also spoke on a personal level about our families. What a dedicated person to mankind, his work, and family. I truly miss him as a teacher, mentor and speak of him often.

While in Cleveland for a wedding, we learned of your terrible loss. Although we do not see our Amdur cousins, we think of you often and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Fred left a beautiful legacy for his family, and our hearts go out to you all.

I worked as an RN @ Community hospital in OB department. Dr. Adler was called in often to see many pregnant women with medical problems.On one occasion, he must have been designated Dad of the day, as he brought one child in a stroller and another sat down in our nurse's station and colored while we "watched his kids ,so he could attend to the patient. Of course we loved that, kids were darling and not a bit of trouble the 20 minutes or so he was there.
My dear Aunt Bonnie Sarchet was a long time patient of Dr. Adler's whom she truly valued until her death a few years ago.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Adler's passing. He took exceptional care of my mom, Julie, at MMI during the 4+ yrs she was there, and me, too, as her worried daughter. My deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him.

Dr. Adler was kind to me when I started working as a hospital nurse 30 years ago. He treated nurses with sincere respect. He was very caring to all his patients. Dr. Adler was truly a healing presence. God's continued blessing to the gracious Adler family.

I remember seeing him at Munster Community Hosp. as a new nurse. Worked with him at Munster Med Inn & Hammond Whiting Care Center. He was gracious enough to let me use his name as a job reference once.

To Dr. Adler's wife, (grand)children, family and sincere friends. I was shocked and saddened when I learned of his passing. He was a honest, passionate and dedicated healthcare professional. He strived for what was right. I believed in you and your righteous ways. My heart goes out to your wife, (grand)children, family and sincere friends.

I had the honor of meeting Dr. Adler through Ellen his devoted office manager for over 30 years. He was a good man with a heart of gold. May his family and friends find peace in their memories of Dr. Adler. I feel blessed to have known him.

Our dear Dr. Adler. You were always so much more than a doctor to me and my family. You were there for my father, Michael, and were always so kind to me and my sister, Jodi. You will truly be missed by us, especially me as your patient. Rest well, dear man.

Fred was my primary care physician, but we had a special relationship. We always greeted one another with a hug and called each other brother when I made my quarterly visits to his office.

I will surely miss my "older brother" who always tried to keep my in line. He was one helluva mensch!

Worked with Dr Adler's patients for many years in occupational therapy. He always thanked us for taking such good care of his patients and asked us to please do all you could for them. So kind and caring, he will be truly missed.

My heart is broken. I will miss Dr. Adler (my buddy). We've been through so much together in the 30+ years I worked for him. He was always there for me. RIP and always know that you were loved.

I worked with Dr. Adler for many years at Community Hospital. He also cared for my Father when he was a patient at Community and my Mother, years later in the nursing home. I will always remember his boundless energy and care for his patients. He will be truly missed.
