Frankie Maxie Obituary


DANVILLE, Va. - Frankie Neal "Slick" Maxie, 59, of 845 Duncan Drive, in Pittsylvania County, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Danville Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health for two weeks and had been in the hospital for the past four days.

Born Dec. 20, 1944, in Danville, he was the son of the late Jesse D. Maxie, Sr. and the late Dora Louis Duncan Maxie.

He had lived on Duncan Drive in the Bachelor's Hall community for the past 35 years. He attended Brosville High School.

He had worked 12 years with First Piedmont Corp. and was a veteran of four years in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He attended Victory Baptist Church.

He was married to Peggy Evans Maxie.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Martha Reynolds of Bachelor's Hall; and one brother, Jesse D. Maxie, Jr. of Martinsville. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 at Swicegood Chapel with the Rev. Roy Newton and the Rev. Hubert Evans. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors by American Legion Dan River Post #1097 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence, 845 Duncan Drive.

Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
