Frank McGuire Obituary

McGuire, Frank Humble Korean War Veteran (Army), age 83, of Chicago and Evergreen Park, peacefully passed away on December 21, 2013. Beloved husband of Mary (Maureen) (nee Lydon); loving father of Danny (Jaclin); beloved brother of the late Joseph (Sandy) and the late John (Patricia). Born August 24, 1930 he was brought up in Visitation Parish with his brothers. He then attended De La Salle Institute from which he graduated in 1949. Proudly fought in the Korean War from which he was awarded numerous medals for combat bravery. A union bricklayer for many years, he proudly retired from Union Local #63 Architectural and Ornamental Ironworkers after 45 years of work. Frank will be remembered for the complete devotion to his family and the love of his brothers, nieces, nephews and extended family. A humble Catholic, who believed that it was 'deeds' and not 'words' that spoke the heart of a man, all who knew him had a profound fondness for this soft-spoken gentleman. Visitation will happen on Thursday, December 26th between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Kenny Brothers Funeral Home, 3600 W. 95th Street in Evergreen Park. Funeral on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Church at 95th and Millard in Evergreen Park with entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to De La Salle Institute would be greatly appreciated.
