Thank you for I citi g me to say a few words about Dr. Baker. I worked for his Father, Mr. Frank Baker, at The Goes Printing Press Company. He always spoke very highly about his family. Well, tomorrow it will be one year...I can't quite believe it! I miss you soooooooooooo much...I wish you were here, but not as sick and in pain as you were. Lots has happened this past year not the least of which Captain died right after you, I think he had a broken doggie heart. We got a new boyfriend for Maggie. His name is "chip" after your childhood nick name. Gram suggested it. He is a black standard poodle. He is 9 months old and weighs 65 #'s. You would really like him...he is as mischevious as you. Sometimes I feel like you are whispering to me, esp. when I don't know what to do about something...you always knew what to do...or at night watching the TV or at bedtime or I could go on forever...I will always love you, always. Happy Father's Day sweetie!

June 6, 2011

Well sweetie, both of the kids have written something I guess it’s my turn. In case you don’t know it’s your “Little Star”, Mary. I bet your feeling good up there, walking on two feet, eating sugar and Vidalia onions, fishing ,having some scotch with Herm, your dad, my dad, Tom Corcoran and you finally met my brother Chuck. It’s a little scary down here without you, but I think I’m doing OK…I have my moments, like right now, but then I hear you telling me to pick myself up by my bootstraps and get on with living life. The house is all in bloom outside just like you like it. Karen and I put a flag on your grave for Memorial Day. Did you audition for the choir up there? Maggie and Captain are OK…Captain laid in front of the bathroom door for 2.5 hours waiting for you, he is aging quickly. There were about 400 people who attended your wake and/or funeral…pretty amazing and quite a tribute to my Frankie! I will love you for always! Little Star

Dear Mary and Family:
I had the pleasure of working with both the Baker's , as they say , "back in the day!." As I recall, Frank would often walk around with an IV in one hand, while seeing ER patient's and Mary was one of my paramedic Instructors !
Both Frank and Mary were inspirational, as I eventually acquired a BSN. The most prominent aspect of working with frank, and the many GREAT ER docs he taught, was all staff were considered part of the TEAM, and our dicussions were so varied, from classical music to whatever area of the world was undergoing insurgents.... Frank will be missed by many, and remembered by even more.
My thoughts and prayers to Mary and family
- Sincerely, Jeanette Hilary (Zastrow)

Dear Mrs. Baker,
My wife, Mary Begole Nordstrom, did her ER residency under Dr. Baker from 1989-1992. he and Dr. Howes were tough but fair with Mary and she benefited greatly from it. Also she did many, many hours on the UofC helicopter -- fantastic adventues while also caring for those desperate in trauma. Thank you for all Dr. Baker did for the ER.

Dear Mary and Family
I first met Chip when we were teenagers in a summer job in Elmhurst. Seeing the bracelet on his wrist, i asked and he explained diabetes and stated his committment to go into medicine and try to find a cure and help people..He fulfilled his childhood ambition !
I knew his mother and worked with his father at Goss for many years, and heard how Chip's great skill helped save his father from a sudden anurism.
We mourne the loss, but treasure the many memories and know his Faith will guide him Home

Dear Mary,

Frank was a brave pioneer, forging the way for others who were less sure or dedicated. He will be missed. I enjoyed the time we spent together on cases helping the injured find justice. And also the time we spent together on boats in south Florida. He loved those boat shows.

Dear Mary...I've known Frank for many years as an expert and a man I was able to discuss anything with, from music to medicine. He was a great physician, and so many patients who never had the benefit of his hands-on care themselves were touched in their lives by his advocacy for their rights, his dedication to improving medical care for all of us, and his courage to take on those who would rather hide shoddy care than improve it. Frank was a man who appreciated life and living, and never, ever, lost his smile. He will be missed.

Dr. Frank Baker was one of the finest medical educators I had ever come across. I will never forget his compassion and humor. Dr. Richard Saffro

Dear Mary: I just learned of Frank's death. He was a valued friend and colleague, brilliant, courageous, and incredibly brave. Frank was an icon of ethics and integrity, and of course, he possessed a razor-sharp mind. We discussed his medical issues, sailing, education, and life many times over the years, and he never whined or complained. The bravery of this brilliant man was manifest always. He will be missed by the uncounted thousands of people whose lives he touched. We had plans to go sailing with summer on Lake Michigan on my sailboat, dwarfed by his putt-putt, as I euphemistically called it. I regret we put that off.

Frank was one of my favorite people. So smart and helpful in all aspects of life. From music, health issues or Lithuanian heritage, there was always something interesting to talk about with him. So many wonderful memories of parties and get-togethers that it will be hard to imagine Mary without Frank. My heart hurts for her and for her family. I am so sad it is just impossible to put into words. Prayers and God's blessings to Mary, Christine, and the rest of Frank's family. Love you. Bobbi Rakow

We have been friends of Frank & Mary for 20 years now. He always took care of us medically, calling prescriptions to anyplace we went on vacation, always helping us out. Frank and Lou had an intellectual connection when we spent time together. He was a brilliant man, a great person and always under stated, yet helpful, charitable and a terrific scenes of humor. He always appreciated any little thing you would do for him.
Once we spent time on his boat in Florida. I remember how happy he was while piloting his boat, being a great navigator and captain of his ship. He was so happy while on the ocean, he didn't stop smiling.
Our world will not be the same without Frank Baker, he will be missed, we are very lucky to have been in his life.
