Fernando Calderon Aguilar
August 11, 2007
Hello my name is Fernando Calderon Aguilar. Even though the passing on of "Pancho" as he is remembered in my family, was some years ago, I cannot explain how moving it was to stumble upon this page and read all the beautiful entries.
My family is from Tlazazalca and my mother's parents (Gonzalo Calderon and Genoveva Duarte) were neigbors of the Parocua family.
To this day we continue to keep in touch with Pancho's siblings, Fernando, Nata (Natalia) and Rubi (Ruben) and visit them every time we are in Tlazazalca. My mother (Isabel Calderon)was almost in tears as she saw Pancho's picture and started telling me all about the times when , as a child, she would help out at Don Antonio's house when their family from "El norte" would come to visit. She clearly remembered Pancho and all his other siblings, as well as all the wonderful dishes that were prepared for the visiting familiy from "El Norte"
All I can say is that if Pancho shared the same qualities as the Parocua family members that we know, then we have to believe that angels do exist on earth. This family and its members are a blessing to all of us. I am so glad to have stumbled on this page today, however I think maybe it was Pancho whom wanted me come here.

I did not know this gentleman but I knew his son, Frank Avila and Sherry Hooste Avila from Esther Hall days. I am sorry that I never met him. I also had acquaintance with his ex-wife, Frank's mother, Maria Theresa and knew his sister Theresa, living some time in the apartment with the family on the north side of Chicago. Recently saw that Maria Theresa died Feb 1 04..When I saw the photo accompanying the article in the NearWest Gazette, a flood of memories and just how nice she had been to me, treating me like a family member...I had no idea that she was such a busy person in politics and helping people etc..too young at the time to see. Frank used to advise the girls how to behave with men...lot of memories. Condolences to the family for the loss of these two unique people.

There is so much to remember about my Uncle Frank. I remember when my brothers and I were growing up, he use to tell us not to be "Earthmen". At the time I was young and not quite sure what he meant. But I am older now and understand what he was telling us. He lived life to the fullest and I will always remember how much he loved music and dancing. I hope in my lifetime I can enjoy life as much as he did.
My sincere thoughts to all my cousins in Chicago.

To the Avila Family
I want to send my condolences for the death of your loved one. You do not know me but I was touched by reading the life story and viewing the photos of Frank Avila. It is sad to see a person live a wonderful life and then have to leave all of his family and friends behind. The wonderful blessing from God is stated in Revelation 21:1-5 the things that cause us sorrow will be a thing of the past. Please take care of each other and take comfort from the scriptures.

I am a former employee of Avila & Associates, also a close friend of Frankie. I really enjoyed how his grandfather would tell us stories about Michoacan, and his band years. He was a very nice man.
