Dear Temmerman family,

I was just alerted to Frank's passing and checked the obituary. I send my deepest sympathy to each of you. My memories of Frank as my mentor, dinners at your home in Winnetka, and George, do you remember your trip to Bozo's Circus (television# with our youngest son, Ned?

We always corresponded at Christmas, except for the last few years. I did not learn of Mary's death. My own husband, Dick, died in June, 2009. We have lived #since my 1998 retirement as chair of the Leadership Department at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago)
on Lake Namakagon in Cable, Wisconsin. Oldest son, Brian, teaches at Glenbrook South in Glenview. Son, Ned, is an attorney in Madison, Wisconsin.

Your parents were remarkable people who contributed so much to making this world a better place. My memories as a friend and colleague with Frank are among my most cherished. The Winnetka "fit" was good for both of us! Jeanne Connor Baxter

I have a special memory of Frank - a friend and I were on our way home through Whitehall and I didn't even know if my friend Claire was home, but we stopped at the Temmerman home and were immediately welcomed by both Frank and Mary. I don't remember how long we stayed but I know we had a grand time just visiting with them. I also remember being "adopted" by the family one Thanksgiving and having Mary drive me to work on Friday - the busiest retail day - before her work day started at the hospital. They were very very special people and I'm thankful I knew them. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Grandpa, I miss you and your stories. Our family will forever remember those ten years we spent living practically around the corner in Hodgenville, and we'll always miss you. I love you so, so much.

Claire Temmerman & family members

Dear Claire and members of the Temmerman families:

I was saddened to learn of the death of your dear father, Fran Temmerman, and mother, Mary Temmerman. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my own father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all the Brothers.

May the Lord continue to hold you and all your family in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help you.

I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:

May the angels lead them into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome them on their way
And lead them into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome them.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May they have everlasting life. Amen.

I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years:
Live Jesus in our hearts--Forever.

With sympathy and promise of prayers,
Your Brother,

PS: I would appreciate a copy of their memorial card, and if they’re available, the program from their celebration of life liturgy Saturday, and the text of any good words offered then by his family. I regret being unable to be present with you at this time of deep emotions.

We will miss you dad! For anybody who reads this, his name to everybody was "Frank". That is the name my father went by.

Hi Dad, I miss you & Mom, and as I thought, my life is very different without you two in it. Bringing you here and so close to me was truly a joyful time in my life. At least I have Larry Luykas to cheer me up. I love you guys and hope to dream of you. Claire
