Francis Niles Obituary

Francis K. "Frank" Niles, 89, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
He was born May 30, 1916, in Binghamton, the son of William H. and Mary (Foley) Niles.
Frank married Frances Mauro on June 24, 1972, in Queens Village.
He served as a New York City fireman, retiring after 20 years. He was also employed by Pan Am Airways for 20 years. After retirement, he and his family moved to Otego in August of 1985.
Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta and the Knights of Columbus in Nassau County.
He enjoyed traveling and the outdoors, especially walking and hiking, and once hiked Kili-manjaro in Africa.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Niles, of Otego; his children, Dr. William and Maryann Niles of Garden City Park, Marilynn and Norm Bourdon of Unadilla, Kathy and Borough Chief of the FDNY Ed Kilduff of Flushing, Laurie and James Erwin of New York City, Michael and Mon-ica Niles of Oneonta and Kelli Niles and Matt Hafele of Oneonta; grandchildren, Kara and Ni-cola Capuzzo, Chris Niles, Jeff Bourdon, Patricia Bourdon and Matthew Bell, Daniel Kilduff and Ellen Fryda, Lauren Kilduff, William Erwin, Ethan Niles and Meghan Niles; a great-granddaughter, Maya Capuzzo; a sister, Kathleen Breen of Tewksbury, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Nora; and two sisters, Jane Korby and Agnes Lee.
Calling hours will be at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta, from 5 p.m. to the funeral service time at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, with the Rev. Victor Owan, associ-ate pastor at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oneonta, officiating.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Otego at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, NY 13825.
The Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta, is serving the family.
