Francis Frossard Obituary

Frossard, Francis 87, of Elmwood Park, a retired electrician and former Local 134 union steward, passed away of natural causes at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Sunday, September 23, 2001. He is survived by his brother, William, sister, Emily, daughter, Judge Margaret Frossard, a Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, his son, Major Patrick Frossard (USMC, Ret.), now with Racing Radios (NASCAR), and six grandchildren, Annie, Katie, Jackie, Katie, Shelagh, and Collin. The oldest of eleven children, Mr. Frossard abandoned his dream of studying electronics when his father died and left school to help support his family. Even though he was not able to formally complete his studies, he taught himself electronics from books. During the second World War, as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he taught electronics to G.I.'s. Following his discharge from the Army, he married his wife Lydia and went on to work as an electrician for 37 years at Lyon & Healy in Chicago. He also worked at night as a camera man at Maywood, Hawthorn, and Sportsman's Race Tracks where he helped develop a method of video taping horse races for subsequent broadcast on local news stations. For the past twelve years he has spent most of his time with his grandchildren teaching them the fundamentals of electronics by helping them make radios and video recording machines. Visitation Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m. at N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview (2 blks South of Lake Ave. on west side.)
