I apologize for this extremely belated condolence, but I only found out about Fran's passing today while reminiscing our meeting during the 2010 FANHS conference in Seattle (where it is being held again this week). At that time we ate at an IHOP to commiserate over the uneven conference planning.
I, too, spent time in Hyde Park so we also shared some good memories of living there as Filipinos in "the old days." I will always remember her wit, strong principles and commitment to the history of Filipinos in Chicago. Best to the family, Fran was a wonderful colleague.
