Hi Ree, -This is the most beautiful letter - I know Gram loves it - You said what we all felt but did not have the words - This proves how powerful love is, and how it lives on in our hearts and minds. God Bless You.

~Some People~

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.

Some people move our souls to dance.

They awaken us to new understandings with

the passing whisper of their wisdom.

Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.

They stay in our lives for awhile,

leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never,

ever the same.

Ree,

Your letter to your Gram is beautiful, and says simply what is so hard to put words to at a time like this.

I never really had a grandmother, but being around your Gram gave me an idea of how wonderful a grandmother can be. She was a unique, wonderful woman, and I have faith she is happy with God. I believe that she can see you, and that she will be with you when you need her most.

In recent days, you and your family have been often in my thoughts and always in my prayers. You all are like a second family to me, and know that my love and support are there for all of you.

Your friend,

Laura

ria:), what a lovely way to pay tribute. You've been and continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Grandmothers are so special and leave such a vacancy in our lives when they depart. May the vacancy left by your beloved gram be filled with happy memories of her and the love of family and friends. Hugs, my dear friend. ~Nexxie

Gram,

As I write this, you are gone.

Gone from us, our little family, which is growing smaller yet tighter with each blow. The pain is fresh, the wound raw, and yet the relief that is felt is immense. It has been a long time coming, we knew, and still that moment it was a shock no preparation would've softened. And now it's only time that can ease that pain for all of us.

But something long ago ingrained in me knows that you are not really gone. Somewhere I learned that God is Love. And He made us, so that must mean we're all made of Love. If that's true, the love I felt for you all along is more alive now than ever, and Love can never die. The love that remains when you left us becomes part of us forever, and we can only grow stronger for that. The love you took with you on your journey can only serve to guide you to where you're supposed to go...to the Ultimate Love. What a gift is Love.

You were more that just a "grandmother". You were "Gram". And "Big Gammie".

And of course, a dear mother. Mom. "Maude". "The Sack".

You were a good friend. Someone I could talk to; a buddy, of sorts.

We laughed together, cried together, sometimes sat together in mutual silence. You with your puzzles and me with my art. Just visiting, spending time.

You were blue wise eyes, where with just a roll of them could convey a thousand messages of humor and wit. And when you laughed, we all joined in.

Your opinions were many, your words were few, but one definitely knew where you stood on things.

You listened to me rant on occasion, your patience at times maddening, but always available and at the ready when I needed you.

So how can a heart be so empty yet so filled at the same time? Such is my heart for you now.

There is a wound, a lonely space now where you once were.

And yet somehow you are still there, even more so now. For that is where I hold you now, and as empty as I feel, I am also filled with peace, a comfort of knowing you are safe.

You're home now, you made it.

And so now I wonder...

Where are you now?

What do you see? Who are you with? What do you know?

Are the answers all there now, to all the wonderment and questions we all have, are they with you now?

Have you ventured to a far away place, or are you still here among us now?

Have you met others who've gone before?

Have you met Jesus, and His Mother?

Do you see the stars from the other side now?

Can you still see me?

I know you won't forget me, nor I you. So for now, we won't say goodbye, rather just "See you later". My hope is that someday when it's my time to leave here, yours is one face I'll surely see again. I'll save you up some hugs, and meantime you say 'hi' to Gramp for me.

I love you.
