I worked for Fran for three years as the Economics secretary. During my interview, she said that she was known as the Dragon Lady because she had a high expectation of others and, when she didnt get their best, she was not shy in letting them know of her disappointment. She was never anything but nice to me. She trained me well and respected the work that I did. We had a great fondness for each other. I couldve worked for her forever but eventually I left Roosevelt to move on with my life. I admired her greatly. She had an indomitable spirit. She always did her best and expected the same from all around her. My life is better because Fran was part of it. Thank you, Fran.

I knew Fran in her retirement years. She was a neighbor at the 555 Condo in Chicago. I began to really spend time with her when we started learning Chess together. She also took a computer class at the Levy Center which I coached. In addition, we went out to dinner several times, always "Chinese." When she moved to the Kenwood, we continued to occasionally dine together at her favorite Chinese restaurant. She was a fine woman, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her in her later years.

My sincere condolences to the family of Frances Oxley.
It is rare that I read the Chicago obituaries, but today I opened the paper and happened to come across this death notice. As I read, I felt great joy in knowing how many lives this fine woman must have touched.
May God grant Frances Eileen Oxley eternal rest.
