Frances Domanskis Obituary

Frances Laucka Domanskis, Nov. 14, 2023. Age 74. Devoted wife of Alexander Rimas Domanskis. Loving mother of Maria Domanskis (Jared Hasten) and John Domanskis (Aditi Ruhi). Cherished grandmother of Juozukas Hasten and Jonas Domanskis. Beloved sister of Isabelle Laucka Howes (John). Preceded in death by her parents Isabelle, nee Mocejunas, and Joseph Laucka, and her brother, Joseph Laucka, Jr. She is survived by other relatives in the U.S.A., Lithuania, and Sweden. Visitation Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission, 14911 127th St., Lemont, IL 60439. Private interment St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in Frances' name may be made to Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, 5114 S. Elizabeth St., Chicago, IL, 60609 (www.pbmr.org) or Ateitininku Salpos Fondas ([email protected]) and will be deeply appreciated. Fran's early childhood years were spent in Munich, Germany, where her father worked for the Voice of America. The family returned to live in the Washington, D.C. area, where she later studied at the University of Maryland. She then attended the University of Michigan, where she met her husband Al and received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She devoted her professional life to helping children and families in need of guidance and assistance as both a clinical and school psychologist. She gave back to both the Lithuanian and American communities, volunteering her time and talent for various Ateitininku groups, Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission, and Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation. She was most proud of her children and enjoyed traveling to all corners of the globe with Al, Maria, and Jonukas. Most recently, she delighted in her role as Mociute to her two grandsons, Juozukas and Jonas, both born in 2022. She fought the good fight, always positive and courageous despite the many challenges that arose in her five-year battle with leukemia. We will miss her dearly. Dear Al, it was with a heavy heart that I read your family message for the holidays this year. You have my deepest sympathy and my condolences to the whole family.
I was traveling and returned just prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Your envelope was in the collected mail. I saved it for when I had the time to read it completely. I am apologetic my note to you is belated. You are a great guy, and Frances was a great person. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

Dear Al, my lawyer buddy from so long ago and over the years, I'm so sorry for your loss of your dear wife Fran. I was very touched by your wonderful letter about Fran and your lives together. I loved the part about her regaining consciousness after being pronounced dead, and then being able to have loved ones around. A miraculous blessing in the midst of such a painful situation on so many levels. Fran sounds like a wonderful woman and wife and a blessing to you for all those years. David Hejna

Fran & Al opened their home to us as we were two young adults from Pittsburgh starting our marriage off as we moved to Chicago in 1992. We ended up finding a house to rent within walking distance to their home in Western Springs. We only spent one year as neighbors but the love Fran and Al shared with us will never be forgotten. I pray for the entire Domanskis family and I am honored to have such fond memories of knowing this family. Fran will always be remembered and may her legacy of love continue to grow abundantly.

Fran and Al took us young strangers into their house back in 1992, after traveling from Pittsburgh to start our lives living in Chicago. Seeing a young Maria and Jonukas on the stairs looking to see who has arrived is a memory I will always cherish. What a blessing as We ended up finding a house to rent in the same neighborhood and became friends. What a beautiful family and life Fran led. She will always have a warm loving legacy and our love for her will be eternal. We were blessed to have her as a friend. God bless this entire family.

May her memory be eternal . She was brilliant and so humble and kind, full of grace and dignity and quiet elegance. Her strong faith in God and family gave her strength and power and energy and a cheerful positive attitude. What a role model! What a friend. We met in 1978 when she was working on her Ph.D and visited her next door neighbor, my mom, for an afternoon break. So many connections. The rest is history. . Memory eternal.

My deepest sympathy to the families.

I remember Fran from when she was my Ed. Psych instructor at the UM School of Education. I enjoyed her and her class. May God grant her eternal memory and blessed repose.
