Florence Pushker Obituary

Pushker, Florence Herman Beloved wife of 63 years tothe late Harvey Pushker, mother of Jan (Bob) Main, Mariann Pushker, sister of Leonard (Eileen) Herman, aunt of Skip (Meg) Herman, Cathy Herman, Lucy (Matt) Moog and great-aunt to Suzanne, Katy, Max, Charlie and Eli. Florence grew up on the North side of Chicago, attended Nettlehorse School, Lakeview High School and Beaver College. She was discovered by Patricia Stevens Modeling Agency at theNorthwestern Train station at the age 18 which started her 60 plus year career in modeling and fashion. As a model, she was in numerous ads in the 1950s including Coca Cola and 7up. After moving to Glencoe and raising her 2 daughters, she returned to her love of fashion and retailing at numerouslocations including Jamari, a boutique she opened in Avon Connecticut, and in Chicago at Gucci, Bonwit Teller, I Magnin,and the 28shopat Marshall Field's. We will miss her stories of all the designers she met and the numerous careers she encouraged. Never one to mince words, Florencealways spoke her mind, from telling you if your outfit was flattering to her opinion of the current political environment.A truly elegant woman, she cared deeply for all those around her and wasloved by everyone she met. Funeral Services Friday 10 AM at Piser Funeral Chapel 9200 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Interment Memorial Park. Visiting will take place following the services until 5 PM at the Skip and Meg Herman residence 3800 N. Lake Shore Dr. 15B, Chicago. Parking available in building, enter at Grace Street.
