Florence Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Florence D. Johnson, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, due to a recent illness.

Florence was a member of Adah Chapter # 7, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church and was employed at Garfinkels Clothing Store in Cavalier Square almost 25 years. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Ebert Johnson; two brothers, Willard Peden and Frank Davis; three sisters, Annie Griffith, Della Jenkins and Helen Stall; and her parents, Jack and Estelle Davis.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda J. Atkins and husband, Milton, and Linda J. Cox and husband, Larry; four grandchildren, Maurice Lynn Atkins, Constance Wilcoxson (Curtis), Shannon Lackey (John) and Allen Cox (Jerri); six great-grandchildren, Dustin Cox, Amber Fisher, Joshua O'Neill, Will Wilcoxson, Tyler Wilcoxson, McKinsey Coren; one great-great-grandchild, Jayden Rhodes; a brother, Floyd Davis (Lois); and sister-in-law, Armeta King Davis; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
