Dear Judy, Cheryl, Rana and the entire family, Not only did I have the highest regard for Ezra and Jennie, but I loved them very much. Their intelligence, warmth, enthusiasm and humor were immense. I have so many great memories of our Passovers together. I'm so very sorry for your loss and the community's loss.

Dear Aaron
We were so sorry to hear about Ezra's death. We didn't even know about Jennie's death. Bernie's sister had just passed away and we were so preoccupied with her that we were out of the loop. It is not easy to lose a sibling. That is an experience that we now both share. No one to share those memories with. We hope that the good memories will sooth the pain.
Send love to Ellie.

Dear Judy,
We did not know your sisters but certainly your aunt and uncle and your parents whom we adored. They were warm and loving and committed people and we were so sorry that we were unable to visit you during shiva. We wish you comfort during these trying times and hope that you can cherish the wonderful memories that they created for all of you. They were extraordinary people and losing both of them in such a short period of time is so difficult.
All of our love

I am very sorry to hear about Ezra's passing. Please accept my deepest heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your father. I was out of town and a business associate just mentioned Ezra's passing. It comes as a shock as Jack Levin was just telling me how active Ezra had been this summer. Ezra and Jeanette were both wonderful people and they will both be missed by everyone who knew them. I will keep them and your families in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cheryl, Judy and Rana: Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your father. I had the good fortune of knowing him as a friend and a lifelong mentor. We shared lunch together just two weeks ago. How much I left unsaid in looking forward to seeing him in the fall. May God grant His grace to all of you through this difficult time.

It was a pleasure to know Ezra as an architect and fellow educator. He was a splendid person. We had spoken by telephone a few days ago and I was looking forward to seeing him again. I'm sorry I will not be able to attend the service. Kindest regards to the family.

Judy, your mother and father take up a lot of space in my cherished memory box. I spoke to him on the phone not long ago when I was looking for you and he remembered me as "Joanie" and we shared a nice moment. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Cheryl, Rana, and Judy and families,

This has been a tough year losing both your mom and dad. Time is fleeting and a generation that was so integral a part of our lives is passing on. I have a wonderful memory of having lunch with your dad near his office on Michigan Avenue as I was completing my studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. He took the time to look carefully through my portfolio and to give me encouragement and some constructive criticism. He was kind and genuine and I remember that I felt comfortable with him and that I looked up to him.

He will be sorely missed and I hope you will all find comfort in the many memories you have of your life with your parents.

Heartfelt condolences,

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know Ezra. He lived his life with great spirit. I will always treasure our "wheel chair date" earlier this month, where we explored the Modern Wing at ARTIC, and shared the Twomblys.

My condolences. A great loss to Chicago. I was fortunate to be a South Commons pioneer. Ezra Gordon became my friend and mentor. He wrote my letter of recommendation for the University of Illinois' (Circle campus back then) new Masters of Urban Planning program. A mensch through and through.
