Wonderful memories with both Eve and Herb

I met Evie just a few months ago when I lectured Anna Bolena for Lyric Opera at The Breakers. She came up after my lecture to introduce herself and we talked for at least fifteen minutes about her amazing life and career. She made a huge impression on me. Her mind was very clear, and her spirit high. I asked her if she had written or recorded her memories and she said she had not. I am so sorry I didn't pursue that with her immediately as I can imagine there are so many great stories she would have told.

I was especially impressed with her early professional singing on the Jane Froman radio show (I am old enough to know who that is!) and her audition for Richard Rogers as Tuptim in The King and I. She was a tiny force of nature!

Up until a few years ago, I worked with Evie for 12 or so years on health and fitness goals. She was a diligent worker and I loved hearing the stories about her grandchildren and also when she and Herb first courted and married. I've missed her and was so saddened to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family and may God's blessings help through this difficult time.

Evie was my good friend at Near North Chapter of Lyric Opera. I was in her home many times. She preceded me as President of Near North Chapter. She was a wonderful mentor to me and a terrific friend. I have missed being with her over the past few years and will miss her forever.
