Evelyn was an original resident of the 555 Cornelia Bldg. as was I. However, I never met her until the building became a condo in 1979. Since that time we have shared many meals, bridge games, rummy que games, daytime trips, etc. I always referred to her as a "runner" because she rarely stayed home. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

I did not know Evelyn well, but always admired her ability to carry her years so beautifully. She was a real lady.

This summer my sister Carol and I visited our aunt Evelyn Augustin for her birthday. Not long after we arrived, we were invited to Evelyn Bloom's apartment to meet this very charismatic woman. We found her to be a very charming and warm woman who seemed genuinely interested in our life stories. Before we left, (she had a date to play cards) she gave us each a pretty deck of cards. When I think of Evelyn I keep hearing the Nat King Cole song Unforgettable.
Unforgettable, that's what you are
Unforgettable though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more
Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too.
That's what Evelyn Bloom is: UNFORGETTABLE...

Evelyn was a true friend of ours and to our family. With the death of our aunt, Anne Greenspan in 1987, and our mother, Diana Greenspan in 1992, she became the living link to their memory. We would see Evelyn as much as we could, both in Chicago when we visited as well as when she visited Miami. We looked forward to seeing her and showing off our grand-children, the great-grandchildren of her friends.
We received a phone message only last week from her thanking us for the latest family picture and mentioning that she was going to be visting Miami soon. We were looking forward to seeing her as always.
Evelyn will be sorely missed by all who knew her and we send our sincerest condolences to her family.

Evelyn was my friend and neighbor at 555 Cornelia since 1982 and I will miss her. She was a wonderful role model -- She always dressed to the 9's and never let her health keep her from doing the things she enjoyed. I am grateful that she and I were able to go to the theatre and dinner 2 weeks ago. (We had a wonderful time!)
My sympathy to everyone in her family. I know that you all will miss her.

Evelyn Bloom, The Friend in Need...
We called ourselves Evelyn #1 and Evelyn #2 and for the 18 years we knew one another, had the most fun together.
Evelyn was fun, but was always there when you needed her.
Everyone wanted to be her best friend, as she was a "best friend" to everyone she knew.
I cannot say all that I feel today, as I write these words with a heavy heart, knowing someone like her will never pass my way again.
Godspeed, Dear Friend!
Evelyn #2

Although I was only an acquaintance, from the moment I moved into 555 W. Cornelia I was immediately and consistently inspired by her grace, humor, elegance, and intelligence. She was an absolute role model and will be sorely missed by our community.

Evelyn Bloom-- the one 90+ person I know who is stubborn enough to keep "partying" until the last ... And then-- give no advance notice that the party is ending. I promise, when I 'grow up' I will try to live my life with the exact same spirit & spunk. Evelyn, there is a reason I always called you "aunt". With love always. Debbie

I will miss Evelyn. She was full of life and squeezed every ounce of fun out of everything she did. She was warm and loving and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
