Eustacio Flores Obituary

Flores, Eustacio 84, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, born of humility in a small town in Cuba, passed away March 13, 2011. He was never pretentious or arrogant. He arrived to the U.S. as an immigrant from his loved country in 1968. A naturalized citizen, he worked as a mechanic and gas station manager. He progressed and was able to educate his family: 2 sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Married for 61 years to a wife, Maria Estrella nee Mayor, who worked along side of him, Eustacio was one of the original Cubans to arrive in Chicago and became a pioneer in his community. He assisted other family members and friends in becoming successful and productive members of the Chicago community. These citizens in turn educated their children to become doctors, lawyers, law enforcement, teachers and educators. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria as well as his devoted sons Ramon, M.D. (Sayra) and Ruben (Clara) Flores; his loving grandchildren Eliza (Salvador) Cuevas, Ruben (Tiffany) Flores, Barbara Flores, Esq., Mavelis and Brianni Flores and great-grandchildren Mia Cuevas, Julian and Averie Flores: his dear sister Enriqueta Flores and his many nieces, nephews and friends. With pain in their hearts, but filled with pride and love, members of his family inform you of his services and invite you to celebrate the life of this humble man. Funeral Wednesday March 16 beginning at 8:30am at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge and proceeding to Our Lady Mother of the Church for 9:30am Mass. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 3-9pm. Info: 708-456-8300 or www.cumberlandchapels.com

There are never the right words to express how deeply sadden we are that you have to endure your loss. Tio Ramon will be truly missed by everyone who knew him no matter where they crossed his path in life. He was more than just a wonderful person; he was always kind, caring and considerate to us and to those fortunate to have known him.
People like him are few in life and it is with a heavy heart that we also grieve with your loss. He will always remain within our hearts.
Memories of our times together will be forever held dear to us. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.
