Erwin Evert Obituary

Evert, Erwin F. 70, suffered a fatal encounter with a grizzly bear Thursday, June 17, 2010, along Kitty Creek in the Shoshone National Forest, Wyoming. Erwin F. Evert a Chicago native was born February 13, 1940, to Erwin August Evert, deceased 1987, and Dorothy Anne Evert deceased 2002. He is survived by his wife Yolanda Evert, daughter Mara Evert (John) Domingue, brother, Robert Lawrence (Margaret) Evert, niece Elizabeth Evert (Christopher) Deutcher and their two children. Erwin published botanical articles and in 2010 the Vascular Plants of the Greater Yellowstone Area: An Annotated Catalog and Atlas. He discovered five undescribed plants. For his contributions, Dr. Hartman, Rocky Mountain Herbarium's curator, named the Evert Desert Parsley, Cympoterus evertii, after him. Respecting final wishes of cremation, no services will be held. Donations can be sent to Park County Wyoming Search and Rescue, Rocky Mountain Herbarium, University of Wyoming, or Morton Arboretum, Lisle, IL.
