Mehlan (nee Straub), loving father of Janice (William) Scott, cherished grandfather of Rachel, Jennifer, and Johanna, fond brother of Christine Wagner, Herbert (Lee) Mehlan and Deloris Bose. Visitation Monday, 3 to 9 p.m., at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., at Northwest Hwy., Mt. Prospect. Lying-in-state Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. until services 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 S. Wille St., Mt. Prospect, IL, 60056. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Retired 44 year employee of the Sun-Times.
