I first met "Mrs. A." in the spring of 1967, my freshman year at Wabash College. She and her husband, the parents of my pledge brother Julius Alberico, Jr., came to our fraternity house to prepare a spaghetti dinner for all of us. But it was the next Thanksgiving when I got to know her and the entire Alberico family. They invited me to their home when I was unable to be home for the holidays. I became an adopted member of the family (the Texas branch). She was kind and gracious to a rather reserved and quiet 19-year old and immediately helped me assimilate into the Alberico life. Over the years I was fortunate to see her a number of times when my bride Jensy and I visited Julius and Pam and/or attended family weddings. Mrs. A., I will always be grateful to you for your kindness. I know you've found the family members who preceded you and are rejoicing with them. Rest in peace!

Emelia was a "profile in courage" in the years I knew her in her role as Executive Director of Beginning Experience International Ministry. Moving from her home in her retirement years to Detroit where she knew no one to accept the leadership role for ministry she believed in so deeply was an inspiration to all of us that she served in that role. She had faced many challenges in her personal life and she met challenges head-on in this role, too. Her years here on earth were a grace and a blessing to so many.

I worked at Hartsfield Senior Living for 20 years & had the pleasure of meeting Emelia which blossomed into a wonderful friendship as soon as she moved in. We continued our friendship even after my retirement. I will miss her terribly. My condolences to her wonderful family. Much love .

My condolences to the Alberico family. I had the privilege of teaching two of the boys at Thornwood so I know they came from a solid foundation, thanks to their Mom.
However even to this day, I think of Mark whenever I slip on a plaid flannel shirt. He wore one every day, and his little brother occasionally wore the same shirt too. They scarred me for life!

Your Mother was a force for good in the parish. My Dad was in plays with her and my Mom was in bridge with her: she was spoken of highly in our home. I remember her fondly and with admiration!
I imagine, upon her crossing over, she was greeted by her Maker with, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
With Love to the Alberico Family from the Croteau Family.

My heartfelt condolences are with the Alberico family during this time. While I was never fortunate enough to have met Emelia her story is amazing and one of bravery, strength and love. She is certainly a person we all could have learned from and aspire to be more like. Emelia will be deeply missed.

Emelia was a second mother to us on Rose Drive. Her and my mom took turns having babies and when my mom was having a baby we would walk down and Emelia would make sure our hair was braided and that we were ready for school. My mom and her were lifelong friends. We will always cherish our memories of her.

I am so sorry for your loss, in hard times such as these i´d like to share a bible scripture found in Isaiah 63:9, God sees your distress and feels it too. With love and compassion he will lift you up and carry you.
