Ellen Swenson Obituary
Ellen Marie Swenson (nee Michalovitz) age 83.
Beloved wife of Norman, who preceded her in death by almost exactly six months. Loving mother of Kenneth and Karen. Cherished grandmother of Peter Swenson and Dylan Hult. Preceded in death by her brother William J. Michaels (Attorney at law). Ellen was a special friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She started her career as a teacher in the Chicago Public School system where she was active in the Chicago Teacher's Union. It was in through the Union that she met her husband of 58 years, Norman. Ellen's became the Matriarch of the Swenson family which enabled her husband to found and serve as the President of the Cook County College Teacher's Union for over 40 years. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday February 17, 2024 at Peace Memorial Church 10300 West 131 St., Palos Park, IL. Ellen's final resting place is next to her beloved husband at Fairmont Willow Hill Memorial Park, in Willow Springs, IL. Arrangements entrusted to New Tradition Funeral Services: 630-230-8399

We are neighbors of Mrs Swenson, whom we met after Mr Swenson died. Paying our respects to her for the loss of her husband, we visited and discovered what a wonderful lady she was: bright, chatty, quite well informed. Please accept our condolences.
