Hallberg, Elizabeth Pearce "Betty" and "Crazy Gran" as she was fondly known to her family and friends, was born September 2, 1919 in Evanston, Illinois to Frankie and Sam Pearce. After graduating from Evanston High School and Smith College, she met the love of her life Bob Hallberg and spent the next 61 years doing the famous Bob and Betty Show until Bob's death in 2002. Betty's two daughters, Liz Uihlein and the late Katie Hallberg, inherited her great strength of character, her toughness and her independent nature. She had a great zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor (often naughty) which endeared her to old and young alike. Her love of curling took her all over the U.S., Canada and even Scotland. She was a passionate and professional bridge player as well as a fierce competitor on the golf course. Betty passed away at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Betty was "one of a kind", a truly unique lady and will be sorely missed by her daughter, Liz Uihlein; her son-in-law, Dick Uihlein; her grandchildren: Duke Uihlein, Brian Uihlein and Freddy Goldenberg; her cousin, Martin Hanson; and her seven great-grandchildren.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
