I, AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS WHO KNEW ELIZABETH, HAVE LOST A DEAR FRIEND.
MY YEARS OF WORKING WITH HER AS VOLUNTEERS IN THE COMPUTER CLASSES AT THE LEVY CENTER FOUND HER TO BE ONE OF THE BEST. MAY SHE FOUND HER PLACE IN HEAVEN AMONG THE ANGELS

Elizabeth was a wonderful friend and a most willing and giving volunteer for the computer classes at the Northeast Levy Senior Center. We, all of us, will treasure her memory.

Elizabeth and I were both volunteers for the computer group at Chicago's Levy Center for seniors. She was very knowledgeable about computers and a good communicator with the students. She undertook to investigate our "competition" by taking similar courses offered elsewhere for seniors. I still have a copy of one that went beyond the basic course that I teach. Elizabeth also gave me the idea that I should keep a computer chronicle of my activities (as opposed to handwritten notes) as she did, because it was "searchable"; she said it kept her from serving the same meal too frequently. She offered to substitute as a coach in the class that I taught on a few occasions and on one of them I took the picture shown on the Herdegen-Brieske website. When I emailed it to her, she commented that she had very few pictures of herself because she was always taking photos of others. My conversations with her were usually rushed, but I was impressed by her diversity of interests, particularly those related to her family and community. She had a zest for life that causes one to especially regret that it is ended. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to her family and others whose lives she touched.
