Eleanor Pierce Obituary

Pierce, Eleanor D. 1929-2012 Transitioned into life with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 23, 2012. Eleanor was an active member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida and enjoyed her Christian experience with the Maranatha Sunday School Class and the Career Resources Ministry. Eleanor was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee and earned a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She dedicated her life to helping others. She was a career employee with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, initially working as a caseworker and moving through the ranks to become Regional Administrator over her 42 year tenure. Eleanor shared her life with her husband of 36 years, George D. Pierce and leaves George; her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Pincham of Chicago, Illinois; a granddaughter, Tomisha Banks of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a grandson, Tommy Banks of Midland Texas; great-grandson, Raymond Banks of Chicago; and great-granddaughters, Maleeyah and Mariah Banks of Springfield, Illinois, as well as a host of relatives and friends to cherish her memory. Visitation will be at Faith Chapel-South, 100 West Beverly Parkway Pensacola, Florida on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10:00am to 11:00am. Services will follow the visitation at 11:00am. Interment will be at the Pierce/Rabb Cemetery in Atmore, Alabama.
