I only visited with Eldon and Andre twice, but really loved the environment they created. It was a pleasure to have met Eldon.

I was a 10 year old kid that was enamoured with his artwork at the Old Town Art Fair in the 60s. He was very generous about sharing his ideas with me. I loved his home and his birds...

Dropped in unannounced one evening in 1968 hoping for a tour of his architecturally unique Rush St. home. Open and marvelously charming guy with a bird gifted at fetching balls of paper in a remarkable garden. A brief encounter well remembered after all these years. An honor to have met that wonderful man.

Eldon was a wonderful artist and gardener, a thoughtful friend and an amazing teacher. I feel privileged to have been able to study with him at the Art Institute during his last few semesters before his retirement. He loved nature, cared deeply about friends and family, and gave generously of himself and his time to others. I just got word of his passing today. My deep condolences to his partner Andre, his friends, students and his many loving family members.

He was my mothers, Leta Jones, favorite brother and my favorite Uncle. I loved him very much.

My deepest sympathy to Eldon's friends and family. He was a truly remarkable man. In the years of our friendship he was not only a mentor but a friend. Time cannot erase the fond memories we have shared.
