Eileen Valentin Obituary
Eileen Mary Valentin, 85, of Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood, passed away Saturday morning, August 26, 2023. She was born in Chicago to John and Nellie (nee Hankard) O'Malley.
Eileen was the Nurse Manager at St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department. She was a selfless caregiver and advocate for those in need. Her greatest desire in life was to be someone who helped others, and in so many countless ways she achieved her goal, as she helped us all, and taught us to do the same.
Eileen is survived by her family who adored her. She was the loving wife of 62 years to Donald Francis Valentin, cherished mother to her five children Kathleen Valentin, Joe (Lisa) Valentin, Mary (Steve Grossman) Valentin, Susan Valentin-Mitchell, and Carl (Julie) Valentin; grandmother to Courtney Day, Heather Day, Ethan Valentin, Sean Valentin, Oscar Grossman, Jane Grossman, Sara Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Leo Valentin, Ronan Valentin, and Cyrus Valentin; great-grandmother to Braeden Torres; sister to the late Vincent (the late Joan) O'Malley, Joanne (the late Michael) Connolly, Marian (the late Bob) Kruchten, Gerald (Bonnie) O'Malley, and the late Gayle O'Malley. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
All who knew Eileen are asked to gather with the family for a celebration of life on Thursday, August 31st. Gathering at 3:00 p.m., Ceremony at 5:00. Dinner and drinks to follow. Please contact the family for the location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Eileen Valentin Scholarship for Future Nurses at the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, 2501 W. Her light, forgiving, egoless, personality left room for so many people to be themselves in her presence. I will always love Eileen because she was so present. So aware. So giving. Flights of angels will sing with her. We will miss her.
