Edwin Larson Obituary

Larson, Edwin J. age 81, U.S. Navy Veteran, late of Calumet City formerly of Roseland, passed away December 20, 2010 at his home. Beloved husband of the late Wanda J. Larson (nee Brock), devoted father of Pamela (Tor) Johnson, Edwin Jr. (Jackie), Karen Jill Ensley, Brenda Joy (James) Pittacora and Robert "Jack" (Cindy) Larson, proud grandfather of Sarah, Eddie (Kristen), Roy, Michael, Jack, James and Marc, loving great-grandfather of Kendal and Hudson, dear brother of Raymond (Diane) Larson, kind uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Special Friend and Sweetheart of Kitty Shannon. Ed was a long time resident of Roseland. His mother Louise Ann Larson (Derrico) passed away in March of 1966. His Father Edwin B. Larson passed away in 1980. When Ed graduated from Fenger High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February of 1948. He was a 3rd class electrician and was stationed in Green Cove Springs, Florida, Virginia Beach and served on the U.S. Benewah. Ed was honorably discharged in February of 1952 and returned home to Roseland. He worked for Illinois Bell from March of 1952 and retired in February of 1991 with many wonderful stories and friends. Ed was also a member of the Spaghettio's sharing time and memories with his Roseland friends. Ed was also an active member of the Jitterbug Club where he met his sweetheart "Kitty" and enjoyed many "moves" on the dance floor. Thank you to all of his wonderful friends for the many cards, thoughts and prayers during his illness. Visitation Wednesday, December 22, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Thursday, December 23, 2010, 9:00 a.m from Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Grove Ave., four blocks North of 162nd St. (Rte. 6), Dolton/South Holland. to St. Victor Church Mass 10:00 a.m. Entombment Holy Cross Mausoleum. Our prayers go out to Ed's wonderful family and his sweetheart Kitty. George and Ed go way back to Gompers School where they both learned how to dance, and dance they did their whole life. Ed was a special friend that we will never forget. We loved him very much and will treasure in our hearts so many wonderful fun memories of him.
