Edward Ziltz Obituary

I have only just found out about Ed's passing and want to offer my prayers and condolences to friends and family. My affiliation was through the NNN and Indianapolis Star. Ed's sense of humor and tremendous customer service were his hallmark.

A great man, loved by anyone who knew him. It has been said that "Only the good die young" Heaven sure has gained one of the best! Thoughts and prayers to Eds family. We will miss Him so much!

As we grieve the loss of our good friend Ed, we should also celebrate his life that he shared with us. We should all remember that laugher was the core part of Ed's live. He kept us entertained and taught us to be happy. I truly believe that Ed wanted everyone to be happy. I suspect at his very moment, he is entertaining the angels in heaven with some of his funny comments.

As we shed our tears for the loss of Ed, let us take a moment to thankful for the joy he gave us. I am very grateful for knowing Ed.

My dear friend, Ed - I will miss you. You were like a brother to me. We had such great times and so much fun together. You had us laughing all the time. There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.

Ed was a termendous person who was proud of his children and cared deeply for his friends. I had the privilage of working with and having a great friend for many years. He kept me updated on Marian Catholic and all things great about Homewood. We will miss him in Arizona. My condolences to his family.

Ed knew the automotive category inside and out. I didn't know him very well personally but I see that he was a well-respected family man. I looked up to his knowledge and relationships in the automotive category when I provided back-up assistance for him at Newspapers First. Ed was a great person, thoughtful, sweet and most of all just delightful. In the short 7 years that I had the pleasure of knowing Ed, I can say he was always ready to engage in a conversation about the media business or any topic that might come up in conversation. My prayers are with his family during this time of grief and sadness.

I was blessed to have known Ed. He was our newspaper rep. for many years. I will remember the stories he had told me as well which will have me laughing in my life time. So sorry to hear of your loss. I went to IJP and MCHS with Ed. He was a good kid and obviously grew into a great man. Way too young to leave his family. My prayers are with you all!

Ed was one of the nicest people I ever had a chance to hang around in the Detroit ad community. His laughter was wonderful. Ed always had so much respect for everyone, he was so special. My thoughts are with his family.

The automotive category of business was his specialty, hence knew ever square inch of Detroit like we know the back of our hands!

Even more importantly, Ed was a terrific Father and Family man. He also always made time for everyone. He was extraordinary.

Dear family . . . Ed was my all time favorite. We go back many years through business. Ed became a good friend who ALWAYS made me laugh to the point of tears (and having to shut my door at work so not to disrupt others). He will be sincerely missed. In my years in the newspaper biz, Ed stands out as one of the all time best. Not just in his sales and negotiating prowess, but in his relationship building. His customers soon became his friends. To Ed's children, there can be no greater loss than that of your father. Its not easy to loose a parent at any age but for you I can only imagine the pain you must feel. I wish there was somthing conforting that I or anyone could say to ease your grief but the passing of a loved one is truly a personal experience. I can tell you I knew your father in college and played football with him. He was a real stand up guy and one you could count on if your back was up against a wall. If you were lucky enough to have him as a friend he could make you laugh your butt off. Although I have not seen him in many years when the fellas get together we still talk about the last time your dad and us were together and how "ED" would crack us up with his comments. May you all find some peace in your time sorrow.

I've known Ed for over 10 years. He was valued automotive category expert at Newspaper's First. He sold and negotiated millions of dollars of revenue for the papers we represented

He was a respected member of Detroit ad community, and had dozens of close friends on the agency, advertiser , and media side of the business.

I had the opportunity to work with him again at the Journal Register Company, where he was the first national category manager named to this company.

Ed truly embodied the word integrity, and his sense of teamwork and hard work
ethic were unparalled.

My wife Donna and I met Eddie at WMU. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and was having fun. He would light up the room when he came in. Our deepest sympathys to his family and close friends, rest in peace Eddie.

Ed was one of the first guys I met when I got into the ad sales business. We became fast friends and when I moved to Chicago years later he welcomed me to the city and showed me around. I really enjoyed his company. I'll miss his smile and his gift of gab. I know he was incredibly proud of his children and loved them more than anything. Ed had a special knack of connecting with people that was a joy to behold. One of the highlights of my career at Newspapers First where we worked for many years, was an annual convention in Detroit where I was able to see firsthand the many relationships he created with clients that went beyond business.
