Edward Marzalek Obituary

EDWARD JOHN MARZALEK Born into this life on October 10, 1919, in Kewanee, IL. Slipped peacefully into an eternal life of love on January 7, 2006, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Oakmont, California. Preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Barbara, and son William. Survived by his loving wife of 20 years, LaVerne "Verni" Barrett-Marzalek, daughters Antoinette (Wayne) Wallace, Kathy (Vincent) Marzalek-Kelly, Patti (Bryan) Mamuzich, Mary (Michael) DuHain, John (Jeanette) Barrett, Linda "Lilly" (Davide) Foletti, Ellen (Bret) Knopf, Stephen (Sylvia) Barrett, Michael (Lynette) Barrett, Marianne Barrett, Eric (Katia) Barrett, and Patrick (Jeanne) Barett, Mary Anne Barrett and Karen Barrett. Proud grandfather of 33 and great-grandfather of 11. Physical Ed was an avid golfer, bowler, hand-ball player, and swimmer. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sacramento and San Mateo Elks Lodge. Ed proudly served in the United States Navy and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine, practicing in San Jose and Sacramento. He also earned a retirement from the City of Sacramento. Ed fulfilled several life-long dreams by visiting many countries around the world including the Hawaiian Islands, specifically Oahu, where he will be laid to rest. Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service on Wednesday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel, 4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA. A visitation will be held on the same day from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to meet at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa on Thursday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. where a Funeral Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul. Interment will will be held at a later date at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Hawaii. If desired, donations may be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA.
