Kaberna, Edward G. of Western Springs, beloved husband of the late Marguerite and Juanita, loving father of Mary (late Robert) Testin, Alice (Brian) McGinley and Edward (Barbara), dear grandfather of Jennifer (Charlie) Wiegers, Shannon McGinley, Michael and Katherine Testin, Sarah and Kevin Cruz and the late Dan McGinley, fond great-grandfather of Patrick, Maggie and Sean Wiegers, dear brother of the late Jean Bruhn, Charles (Loretta) and Jack, devoted step-father of Pat (late Ray) Schuette and Anita, Don, Rusty and Jimmy (Dawn) Silvio, also many nieces and nephews. Visitation 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Funeral 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, from the funeral home to St. Cletus Church, LaGrange for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204, appreciated. 708-352-6500

Gosh, I remember us sitting at the kitchen table listening to the humor, candor and wisdom of your dad. I was too young to appreciate his strength and determination in keeping a family in tact.
