I had the pleasure of knowing Eddie while a sports writer at the old Chicago American and while a PR man at Maywood and Washington Parks. What a nice man! What a terrible period this has been for you; you are in my prayers.

Eddie on phone: Ya don't say.
Eddie: Ya don't say.
Eddie: Ya don't say.
Ray: Eddie, who was it?
Eddie: He didn't say!
May Ed's soul rest in peace w/Audre....Mary & Ray

I've known Eddie for almost twenty years, since my sister married his son Steve. Besides being a witty and excellent sportswriter, he was a man of great character and a great friend. If the Cubs reciprocated with victories Eddie's love for the team, they would have been world champs every year.My condolences to his family. Needless to say, he will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences to the Gold family on the passing of both Eddie and Audre. I met them and their son Bruce in the 1970s at card shows put on by the Chicagoland Sports Collector's Association. I always looked forward to and enjoyed my conversations with them.

It is with sadness that I received the news of the passing of Edward Gold. A man of knowledge, integrity, and humour, he was an excellent writer, a devoted family man, and a baseball maven. As a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, Eddie was truly in his element at the national Conventions held annually, and his presence will be missed next year and thereafter. My condolences go out to his sons Steve and Bruce, daughters in law Mary Ellen and Diana, and grandchildren David, Rebecca, and Alana. May the memories of Eddie and Audre Gold be a blessing.

My sincere condolences to the Gold and Rose families. Eddie introduced and sponsored me into the Society for American Baseball Research. I will cherish his books even more now. I will miss his column. My friend Barbara Young, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, never met him but will also miss him. She also sends her heartfelt condolences.
