Gaffney, Edward James Korean War Veteran. After a 10 month all out war on Lung Cancer, God called him up to the Poker game in Heaven on August 16th. A devoted husband of 51 years to his best friend Bernice (nee Flannery), loving father of Mary Kaye, Susie (Pat) Holly, Eddie, Patrick (Sarah) and the late Marty, devoted grandfather of Patrick Jr. and Meeghan Holly and Cory, Cody, Riley, Penelope, Marty, Magdalena, Matthew and Katherine Gaffney, dear brother of Bill and the late Mary Agnes Sullivan. A Maryville Academy Alum. Ed joined Illinois Bell and IBEW #134 as a Service Tech where he remained for 34 years. Ed enjoyed his retirement, with sports, sports and more sports. He loved nature and bird watching. He can now be found in Heaven playing Poker with the gang, with his beloved Princess at his side. Funeral Monday, 9:15 a.m., from Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien, to Our Lady of Peace Church. Mass 10 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 2 to 9 p.m. For info. call: 630-852-3595.
