Eddie Brown Obituary

Eddie Louis Brown, was born January 23, 1941, in Washington, D.C. to the late Eugene and Frances Brown. Late Thursday evening, December 8, 2005, after a long illness, heavens gates opened and an angel appeared and quietly lifted the hands of Eddie Louis, and he went home to be with the Lord.

The second child to Eugene and Frances, he is preceded in death by his older brother Austin and leaves behind his younger brother, Melvin and one sister, Mary, who loved him dearly.

Eddie Louis graduated from Bel Alton High School in Bel Alton, Maryland in 1959. In his early years, Eddie Louis was known for his musical talent of playing the saxophone in the band, “The Diamonds.” He was also known for his sense of humor and the man with nine lives.

He married his sweetheart, Geraldine E. Datcher in June of 1961. Out of that union, they had five children. Throughout his life, he held numerous occupations.

In 1979, he formed a special friendship with his long-time companion, Shirley, where he gained an extended family of eight more children. He lived his final years being cared for by the many people at Genesis Elder Care, La Plata, Maryland.

His memory will be cherished by his youngest brother, Melvin (Maxine), his sister Mary (Larry); wife Geraldine; special friend, Shirley Duckett; his children; Spencer Lancaster, Gary, Vanessa (Milton) Brown, Luwahn, Mark Terrycila (Cecil) Carroll, Andrea (Charles) Dokes, D.T., L. T., Joe, Wayne, Meldoy, Cheryl, Sheilah, and Angie (Duckett); 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

His viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005, 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Interment, St. Matthews Church Cemetery, Newtown, Maryland. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Pomonkey, Maryland

To special memories of my brother Eddie Louis. I was not ready for you to leave so soon. I wanted more time to share with you of how Our Lord work things out for our good. Well once again God knows best. I vision you as all is well with you and the Savoir Jesus Christ and for Austin as well, standing by your side. I keep reflecting how you carried me when I was a baby, even took me to your school as a little girl. I remember how sensitive and emotional you were about many things. I also remember how you could make us laugh at almost anything. You had many up and down, but you was still my heart. You and Gerald brought the most beautiful children into this world for all of us to enjoy and to grow up into our adulthood. For this I am grateful. I could write a book of your life from your great gift of playing your sax, to your struggle to survive. But what matters now is that you will not suffer any longer because your are in the Master's Hands. To this I say Glory to Our Lord and Truely our Savior. Your Only Sister Mary Hilda Denise Brown-Jones I love You
