Earl R. Bartholomae 85, was born in Chicago on May 4th, 1922. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25th, 2007. He was the beloved husband (61 years) of Veronica (nee Wohead), loving father of Raymond (Sharon), Donald (Susan), Paul (Marg), and Nancy (Ric Hildreth), devoted grandfather of Jason, Brian (Traci), Kevin, Eric, Ryan, Graham, Bridget (Marc Mantasoot), Heather, Sean, Nicholas, Raymond, and Peter, and devoted great-grandfather of Noah. He is also survived by his brother Roy (Downers Grove) and 33 nieces and nephews. He was a long time resident of Des Plaines (56 years), a decorated WWII veteran (served in Iceland), and Service Commander at VFW Post 2992. He was always the #1 poppy seller for Memorial Day (Oakton and Lee). His career as a Manager at "Z" Frank spanned 50 years. People all over Illinois and Michigan will miss his smile and quick wit. Visitation will be held at G.L. Hills Funeral Home at 745 Graceland in Des Plaines, on Monday August 27th, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. A memorial service beginning with a VFW ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28th at St. Stephens in Des Plaines. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The Raymond A. Hildreth Discretionary Supplemental Trust Fund.
