Douglas Kehler Obituary

COAL TOWNSHIP — Douglas P. Kehler, 80, of 12 N. Locust St., went home to be with his Lord at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Dec. 16, 1925, a son of the late Samuel P. and Grace (English) Kehler.

Douglas attended and graduated as salutatorian from Coal Township High School, Class of 1943. He also attended Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y., where he studied engineering and draftsmanship.

He worked for 30 years for the state Department of Transportation as an engineer and draftsman.

Mr. Kehler was a lifelong member of St. John United Methodist Church, Coal Township.

Surviving are one brother, John S. Kehler Sr. of Coal Township; one nephew and his wife, John S. Jr. and Sandra Kehler of Coal Township; one niece and her husband, Pamela and Tim Carroll of Harrisburg; two great-nephews, Brooks and Brett Kehler, both of Harrisburg; and two great-nieces, Erin and Shannon Carroll, both of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe E. Kehler.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St., Coal Township, where the funeral will follow at 11.

Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. John United Methodist Church, Arch Street and Eagle Avenue, Coal Township, PA 17866.
