Dorothy Stewart Obituary

STEWART, DOROTHY RUTH – age 89, of Knoxville, passed away 6:38 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Zelma Montgomery Stewart. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was always actively involved in the choir, the United Methodist Women, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class until her declining health prevented her participation. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School and Tennessee Wesleyan Junior College. She received her B.S. degree in Education from U.T. in 1940. She retired in 1974 after teaching 33 years in the Knoxville City School System.

Survivors: several cousins and her church family.

Memorial contributions may be given to the music fund at Central United Methodist Church, 201 East 3rd Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917.

Friends will be received from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a celebration service of her life, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in the chapel of Stevens Mortuary, Rev. Bruce Galyon and Rev. Grady Winegar officiating.

Friends will meet 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 11:30 a.m.
