Dorothy Banning Obituary

Dorothy N. Banning HAMBURG Dorothy N. Banning, 77, of 148 School House Road, Hamburg, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at the Laurel Center, Hamburg. Born in Annville, Pa., on February 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Sherman F. and Ada M. Brown Kessler. She worked at the R.M. Palmer Co., Wyomissing, Pa., for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She attended Millcreek Lutheran Church, Newmanstown, and was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by daughter Brenda, wife of Larry Haller of Reading; sons Brian, husband of Linda Ream of Myerstown, Brent Mays, with whom she resided, Bruce Mays of Milton, Delaware; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sisters Viola, wife of Earl Redcay of Reamstown, and Laura, wife of Orville Knarr of Myerstown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Walter, Lester, Delmar, Clair and Arlington Kessler; and a sister, Elura Vogel. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2007, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing Monday at 10 a.m. Interment at Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Womelsdorf. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. www.grosefuneralhome.co m

I know Aunt Dottie as a loving mother and a thoughtful aunt. Several years ago she sent me some photos of me and my Grandpa Kessler, when I was just a toddler. I will always remember her kindness to me and my family. Godspeed Aunt Dottie, God has another angel.
