Steinle, Donald C. age 81, of Tarpon Springs, FL. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Don was a U.S. Navy Combat Veteran of World War II, serving as a Gunners Mate aboard the U.S.S. Terror (CM-5) in the South Pacific. On January 27, 1951, he married Dolores R. Bretz, deceased, with whom he shared his life. Don spent 31 years as an executive at Illinois Bell, retiring in 1979 as a Manager of Switching Services, and also earned a Bachelor's Degree from DePaul University. Don and Dolores relocated to Florida from Flossmoor, IL, after his retirement. Don was an active member of numerous organizations both in Florida and his native Chicago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, and past faithful scribe of Fr. E.J. Farrell Assembly 1775, Holiday, FL. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Past Commander of VFW Post 10757, Tarpon Springs, FL, as well as a life member of VFW Post 2580, Midlothian, IL. Other organizations of which Don was a member include: Morton Plant Hospital Foundation, The Sun Coast Chapter of Hospice, Telephone Pioneers of America, DePaul University Alumni Association, Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, American Legion Post 46, AMVETS Post 98, and Don was a Charter contributor to the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Don was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, FL, and a member of the Society of the Little Flower, Darien, IL. Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Steinle of Chicago, IL and Joann Bretz of Oak Forest, IL, seven nieces and nephews and twelve grand nieces and nephews. Funeral Monday, January 15, 8:45 a.m. from the McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forest, to St. Christopher Church, Mass 9:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre. Visitation Sunday, 3 to 9 p.m. 708-687-2990.
