Galen, Donald W. 1921 - 2004 age 82, a Naperville resident since 1957, Donald died on March 18, 2004. He was born on November 27, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at The City College of New York, Princeton University, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and Master of Science Degree from Indiana University. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Donald served with the 387 Field Artillery Unit of 104th Infantry Division in Europe. Donald was professor emeritus at Morton College, Cicero, IL. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Anneliese (nee Strauss) of Naperville, Frankfurt, Germany and New York, NY; his five sons, Walter (Lois) of Brookfield, IL, Edward (Judy) of Akron, OH, John (Melanie) of Neillsville, WI, Geoffrey (Leslie) of Albuquerque, NM and Niel (Teri) of Jersey City, NJ. Donald is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Harvey Fried of New York, NY and a brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Ulrich Strauss of Highland Park, NJ. Donald was much loved by his family and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donors contribute to their favorite charity. All services are private.
