To the Portman/Meroff family,
My name is Bert Rose and I live in Northbrook.
In 1942(just before I was inducted into the army) I was playing piano in Benny Meroff's band. We were playing vaudeville in his "Funzafire" show.
I recently returned from vacation and while catching up on newspapers I happened to see the Diane Portman obituary.
I have been a band leader in Chicago for over 50 years. Benny taught me many things as a young 18 year old that are still with me today.
My thoughts and condolences are with your family at this time.
