Dear Tony and Family:
I am so very sorry to read of Diane's passing, she is a lovely girl. You may not recall, I was married to Tommy Fortas and we all went to dinner and had such a good time one night. Of course, you and your partner were also my guardian angel one evening. I've often tried to find you on the internet, but to no avail. Be well, my friend in time of need. Remember when I called you on the phone? May God give you the strength to cope at this time and always. Your friend, Diane Casey

Dear Diane,
Sept 11,2002, I will never forget
the phone call I got from you asking
where my brother Dave was, as you
knew he was in town from New York away from Barb and Family.
I gave you the update I was picking
him up at orange line and he was coming back to my house, all of us ,not knowing how long the planes would be ground, you told me not to
worry, you would personal take him to airport and give him an escort.
I really appreciated you took the time to care about my brother Dave. He never said it,"you know how Daivd is, but, he appreciated your
concern we all did.
Thank You, God Speed.
We have all lost a wonderful person
Just the hour and a half we spent on the phone, You would have been
a person I would have loved to know
more.
we will all meet again, can't wait to see you

dear tony, linda, jamie and jennifer,
there is no way to lessen the sorrow of diane's passing except to acknowledge the difference she made to so many people's lives, me included. i can't help but smile when i think of her and the joy with which she seized each and every moment. Diane would never settle for the ordinary or the boring. she painted our world with laughter, creativity and love and she will not be forgotten. as i said a prayer for all of you and for her, i just could not stop myself from substituting the maria high school fight song for those hail mary's! you now have a new guardian angel sitting on your shoulder. love and sympathy, mary taradash

We were not close friends, but as part of the French community came into contact with Diane on a number of occasions. Our hearts go out to her family and close friends---Diane had a special presence that we so appreciated, and her outgoing and warm personality always led to particularly memorable moments together; so much so that we were both filled with sharp sadness that we would not have these occasions again. It is not everyone that has that kind of impact on those she comes into contact with. She will surely not be forgotten, and we just hope that her family and friends take some heart in knowing how much she touched those who knew her.
Our sympathy,

I was truly saddened upon learning of the loss of Diane. I had the pleasure of knowing her through you before coming on the job while working at the Palmer House Hotel and working with her in 018 for a short time. She was truly a good person who always took the time to help out a fellow officer. My thoughts and prayers are with you throughout this terrible time.

Dearest Diane,
Now, you will not come to Paris to visit me. I will not take you over to my favorite Paris places. I will not show you where my father, the Paris "flic" was working and laugh with you at you being a Chicago "fliquette" as you used to call yourself. We will not sit in a cafe, watching passerbys as we often dreamt of. We had fun dreaming at the Alliance Française, and I thought you were one of the most beautiful smiles of this City of Chicago and one of the reason I liked to be there.
I'll keep you forever in my heart.
All my condoleances to your husband and your family

Diane, I am so glad we were able to share a wonderful afternoon together not too long ago. I will remember it forever. I will always think of the fun we had in our homeroom in the academy; how we helped each other make it through red man! Great laughs and lots of good memories. I will miss you always.
