Derek Golabek Obituary

One year today, you left this world to be reunited with our father above. We miss you each and every day, but know that God has you in his keeping and we have you in our hearts forever.

10 months have passed since you left us to go to a better place. Each day I feel your presence in some small way. I find myself crying one minute and smiling the next. Miss you, but I know that god has you in his hands now.

Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope you are enjoying your new home free of pain, doctors and suffering.

Not a day will go by that someone somewhere doesn't think of Derek. He brought a ton of smiles and laughter to many lives. He was taken too soon but he truly lived in the time he had. He fought harder than most could. I'm proud to have known him. May his family find peace...

I didnt know you or your family personally however being a part of Marianjoy, we are all one. I too am suffering from a brain tumor and only hope I could be strong as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of the boys playing soccer. Then 4 yrs. ago I was in the hospital and was surprised when DJ walked into the room pulling his IV pole with him. He was suppose to be in the room next door. The nurse came running around the corner in a panic - she told him he couldn't just take off without telling anyone! DJ just laughed and said he was saw us and wanted to visit - I wonder who he's visiting with now in heaven, I bet he's smiling! Keep all those great memories you have of DJ close to your heart. Our prayers are with you all.

Dear Family, You don't know me but I read your son's obit and felt compelled to write. I lost my son, Michael, to GBM in 2009 after he fought for 3 1/2 years. He passed away 2 weeks before his 25th birthday. I know what you are going through and I will certainly keep you in my prayers. May the memories of your beautiful son give you strength.
