Just found out that Dennis passed today from my mom, when she read his brother's obit and saw mention. So sorry to hear about both.
Dennis was my dance teacher for about 13 years with Cashel and I will always remember his firm guidance. Even when I struggled, he never gave up on me and pushed me to want to do better.
Many of my favorite childhood memories revolve around Irish Dance and he was a big part of my love of the dance and drive to have it be apart of my life.
It was always a special treat when we could get him to "show" off during practice (even when his knees were giving him problems).
I ran into him at a "Nationals" years later, when I was dancing as an adult with another school, and it was nice to touch base with him.
I am 41 now, and stepped out of the Irish dance world (hopefully temporarily) when I had my twin girls. I'm learning to tap dance now, but my first love is Irish Dance. My four year old girls are right at my heels and I hope to facilitate in passing on the legacy that Dennis has passed on to so many others in this lifetime.

Many remember Dennis Dennehy as an Irish dancing instructor but I remember him as one of the greatest solo dancers of the 1950s. He had a terrific habit of whipping many of the male dancers from the Patrick Roche School. I was among the defeated and it was no shame to lose to Dennis. Nor was it any shame for a girl to lose to his wife Margie Bartishell, two wonderful people and wonderful dancers.

I am so grateful to Uncle Dennis and Aunt Marge for opening the world of Irish dancing to me. My best and my parents' best to Aunt Marge, Kathy, Dennis and Connor at this time of sorrow. But it is also the time of remembrances of the unique man my Uncle Dennis was and the joy he brought to so many. He was in his own way a wonderful Irish leprechaun. But if he heard me say that about him, he would say, "But where is my pot of gold?" Dan Dennehy
