To all who have heavy hearts at this time of loss we send our condolences. Although we are so far away, we still share some of your pain as David was our cousin. Why must so many be taken from us in their prime---?there are no answers, except the good die young.

To The Viner Family:

I met Dave at the University of Illinois, we were both in the Sammy house. David had great spirit, a wonderful appreciation for life, and he had tremendous respect and dignity for everyone he came in contact with. I would run into Dave from time to time, and he always had a warm smile and a kind word...he was a very very genuine person.

If there were more Dave Viner's in this world, it would be a much better place to live.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

“Vinnie” was my Big Brother in Sammies at U of I. I’ll never forget how happy he was when we were finally initiated, although he delighted in reminding me that, “you’ll always be a pledge in my eyes”. He was a great role model for many of us. Although I hadn’t seen Dave in years, I will remember him as the big brother that I never had. My condolences go out to his family and friends. I know that he will be greatly missed.

The Viner Family:

I first met David when I was the Sammy advisor at U of I, and David was a freshman. From my earliest memories, David always had a smile, and always had a great love of life. I lost contact with David over the years, but heard about his success through others and was always very proud of him.

I have fond memories of David, and the number of people who showed up for the service today proves that he had a major impact on everyone he met. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Joy, Brittany, Jacob, Jordan and Marion,

David was a sweet and special child. I enjoyed watching, and being a part of, his journey as he developed from a child into a young man, and finally into an exceptional adult. David faced life with intelligence, humor, kindness, dignity, generosity and courage. He was a terrific dad, a loving husband, a wonderful son, and a great brother. His goodness will live on in all who knew him. You are all in our prayers.

I feel a loss and sadness that is difficult to put into words. I will never forget the brave and curious two-year-old who was fascinated the first time he encountered his Aunt Fran's cat and followed Piccolo all over the apartment. Be with God David.

Love, Fran & Larry

To the Viner Family,

I spent the summer of my 14th year babysitting for David and his little brother, Michael. That was almost 40 years ago, and the Viner family has remained very special to me. Through my friendship with Marion, I was always kept current on how the "boys" were doing. I hadn't seen David since he was a young boy and then I saw him as a man, speaking so eloquently at his father's funeral. I was very moved by his beautiful words.

I wish your family strength and comfort during this painful time. You are all in my thoughts and I extend to you my deepest sympathy.
