Daniel Zamudio Obituary

Zamudio, Daniel

Daniel Zamudio, 75, skilled journeyman painter, of Chicago's Roscoe Village neighborhood, passed away peacefully April 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Corpus Christie, Texas, Daniel's family moved to Chicago when he was eight. After graduating from Waller High School (now Lincoln Park H.S.), Daniel attended Washburne Trade School's Painting and Design program. Daniel had a strong work ethic and enjoyed a long and satisfying career in the commercial and real estate contracting industry, where his friends and coworkers knew him as "Poppa". He was a proud member of Local 147, International Painters and Allied Trades Union. Daniel was a devoted family man, a great storyteller, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed a good barbeque, a cold beer, and rooted for the Dallas Cowboys. Beloved husband of 56 years to his high school sweetheart Lucy Zamudio (nee Luz Maria Suarez). Devoted father to Angie, Daniel (Lorraine "Lori"), and Alicia Zamudio. Proud grandfather of Olivia Podyma; Jack, Jeremy, and Dylan Zamudio; and Alyssa Santiago. Dear Brother of Cruz (Josie) and Elisa (the late Ramiro) Hernandez. Loving Tío, cousin, and friend of many. He was preceded in death by parents Rafael Zamudio and Elisa Aparicio Zamudio, brothers Rafael (Lupe) and Antonio (the late Katy) Zamudio, and his very best friend Frank (the late Theresa) Reyes. The Zamudio family wishes to thank everyone at Creticos Cancer Center along with the valet and front desk staff and his nursing team at Illinois Masonic Hospital for their exemplary care and compassion. A celebration of Daniel's life is being planned for Memorial Day Weekend, 2024. Private interment of cremated remains at Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creticos Cancer Center https://secure.aahgiving.org/site/Donation2?df_id=4868&mfc_pref=T&4868.donation=form1.
