My sister couldn't have said it better. Uncle Dan was one of the most fun-loving, caring people I have ever met. He also made a MEAN corned beef!! :) You could hear his laugh from miles away. In addition to the Club Med and 4th of July memories, I will never forget having Uncle Dan over to our house after a White Sox game. We watched the fireworks from our house, and Uncle Dan provided the dramatic soundtrack of "ooohhhhs" and "aaahhhhhs" for each beautiful display, followed by one of his signature laughs. To this day, when I watch a fireworks show, I 'oooh' and 'aaahh' just as Uncle Dan did.
We love and adore you Uncle Dan. Say hi to our dad, enjoy a few brews and maybe a poker game with him. We love you and will miss you dearly.

I was very upset to hear about the passing of Uncle Dan. He was an incredible man whose laugh could be heard for miles. His smile, laugh, wit, generosity and positive light will truly be missed.
I'll never forget the days when I would go over to Aunt Mar's and Uncle Dan's house. When I was younger, I always loved going to their house because Uncle Dan would have the big pool in the backyard all set up and ready for my siblings and me. He always referred to the backyard as "Club Med," and loved having friends and family gather there. Some of my favorite summer memories come from Aunt Mar and Uncle Dan's house. Our annual 4th of July/overdue birthday Party was always one of my favorites. Uncle Dan made sure everything was just right-the food, the pool and the games. I never wanted to leave that party (especially since we would celebrate MANY overdue birthdays, and there was LOTS of pistachio cake:) ).
Uncle Dan, I wish I was back in Chicago to say one last goodbye. You always told me if I ever needed a day off, that "Club Med" was always open; your generosity and love was so overwhelming, and I will miss you so much! You and my dad better stay out of trouble up there...!
Rest In Peace, Uncle Dan.
All my love,
Tracy

Mrs. Mattson, We are so sorry to hear about Mr. Mattson. Jett was so upset and sad when I told him today. He always had a special place in his heart for Mr. Mattson as you already know. He was just thinking about him a few weeks ago. I will never forget all the times that Mr. Mattson had to call him and yell at him for being bad in your class. He loved getting those calls from Mr. Mattson and Im sure some of the times that he got in trouble was done on purpose just so he could talk to Mr. Mattson. He loved when he would come to the class to all of the parties or just to say hi. He was so happy when you asked him to write a letter to Mr. Mattson at the end of the school year. He put all of his heart in writing that letter and meant every word he wrote. You know you will always have a special place in Jett's heart too. He was really sad when you retired but knew it was so you could spend some more time with Mr. Mattson. I am so happy he had you for a teacher for 2 years. He was one of the lucky kids. We will keep you and your family in our prayers and you know were you can find us if you need anything. When Jett sees you around the school you will get a huge hug from him. I'm glad Jett has all those memories in his heart of Mr. Mattson and no one can ever take those away from him.
Love,
Jett, Kim, Jerry, Christain and Eddie Escamilla

Aunt Maryrose and Danny,
I am so sorry, I will always remember the fun vacations we went on. My favorite memory is when Danny and I were jumping on the bed and the "manager" called our room to yell at us. My prayers go out to you and if you need anything I am here.

Mary and family, so very sorry for your loss. I'll be missing Dan too.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight that ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumns rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there;
I did not die.
