A Prayer for the Deceased Rep. Dan Rostenkowski

Most faithful God, lively is the courage of those who hope in You. Your servant Dan Rostenkowski suffered greatly, but placed his trust in Your mercy. Confident that the petition of those who mourn pierces the clouds and finds an answer, we beg You, give rest to the Late Rep. Dan Rostenkowski. Do not remember his sins, but look upon his sufferings and grant him refreshment, light, and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Rquiem ætérnam dona eis, Dómine,
et lux perpétua lúceat eis.
Requiéscant in pace. Amen.

O God, our Lord, our Eternal King, our Everlasting Father and the Most Merciful Judge of all give rest to the soul of Your servant Dan Rostenkowski who has fallen asleep in Your Kingdom, where there is no pain, sorrow or suffering. In Your goodness and love for all men, pardon all the sins he (Don) has committed in thought, words, deeds and/or in what he has failed to do, "for there is no man or woman who lives and sins not, You only are without sin (...) for nothing is impossible to God." Gospel, Lk 1:37-38
Please accept our deepest sympathies.

I remember the sweet, genuine smile of "Call me Rosty" in an ad during, I think, the Social Security reform process in the early 1980's. It was nice to see someone who was the reverse of slick. God bless him.

My father was a precinct captain in the old 34th Ward organization (66th precinct) and thought the world of Mr. Rostenkowski. In our home, his name was always mentioned with respect and admiration. A treasured memento of those years is a Christmas card from the early 60's, with a beautiful family picture on the front. I met him a few times and I will always remember the big smile on his face when he spoke to this teenager.

May Heavenly Father bless you with many memories and much comfort and peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Rostenkowski Family in their time of grief. At times like these, "God is near to those who are broken at heart;
And those crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34:18) I hope this will bring the family a measure of comfort.

Dear Rostenkowski Family: Words cannot ease your pain but knowing others from all over the country and the world loved and respected your loved one must raise your spirits. At least I hope so. I was at Bill Jaskula's wake many yrs. ago, I bumped into a person and looked up to say I'm sorry, I looked WAY up, I'm only 4'11" and I bumped into Mr. Rostenkowski. We laughed a lot, he patted me on my head in jest and we went our separate ways. I'm so sorry for your loss and the loss of America. May his memory be eternal.

To Rep. Rostenkowski Family: Memory Can Tell Us Only What We Were. Memory can tell us only what we were, In company with those we loved; It cannot help us find out what each of us, alone, must now become. Yet, no person is really alone; Those who live no more still echo within or thoughts and words, and what they did has become. Wolven into what we are.
