Crane Hauser Obituary

Hauser, Crane Cheshire was born in Newark, N.J., on January 8, 1923 and died on May 17, 2002. Mr. Hauser graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA in 1946, after serving three years in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Northwestern University Law School in 1950 and received his CPA in 1953. He joined the law firm of Winston & Strawn in 1950 and was a partner there until his retirement in 1989, except for 2 years in Washington, DC, where President John F. Kennedy appointed him Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service and an Assistant General Counsel of the Treasury Department. Mr. Hauser was active in the American, Federal, Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations. Later in 1993, Crane also graduated from the University of Chicago's Graham School of Literature, which gave him much pleasure. He was a 39 year member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and a Life Elder. He is survived by his wife, Mary Corliss Hauser, one son, Dr. Stephen Crane (Eleanor C.) Hauser of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and two grandchildren, Maryanne Corliss Hauser and Katherine Crane Hauser also of Rochchester, MN.
